ちぃ 海いく Chii Umi Iku Chi Goes to the Ocean

Hideki, Shinbo, Chi, Ms. Hibiya, Yumi, and Ms. Shimizu (their prep school teacher) decide to go to Minoru’s Beach House over the Spring Break. There, dolphins catch their eye, Chi jumps overboard, and in an attempt to rescue Chi, Hideki nearly drowns himself.

ちい 遊ぶ Chii Asobu Chi Plays

Hideki gets a DVD player and an online game from Minoru. He, Chi, Sumomo and Shinbo play the game together. However, Chi is somehow not with them in the game, and Hideki searches around in-game to find her despite the fact that he has no experience in playing online games. While doing so, he accidentally finds himself confronting an undefeatable boss monster and is eventually rescued by Chi, although afterward Chi claims that she has no memory of the incident.

“Into the Blue” “Intu za Burū” (イントゥ·ザ·ブルー)

Sousuke and Gauron fight each other within the confines of the Tuatha de Danaan hangar. As they struggle, Gauron activates his AS’s self-destruct mechanism to destroy both himself and the Tuatha de Danaan. With Kaname’s help, Sousuke jettisons Gauron’s AS from the submarine just as it explodes. Back at Merida Island, Tessa sends home the remains of two SRT members killed during the takeover.

ちぃ 確かめる Chii Tashikameru Chi Confirms

Hideki is scared of a room in the apartment because of a horror story he heard at Minoru’s house when he was asking about the internet through Minoru’s custom-made Persocom Yuzuki. He becomes paranoid thinking about the story and, believing that his apartment building is haunted, has several self-induced hallucinations. The apartment number in the story is 104, as 4, or shi. “Shi” is the Japanese word for Four (四) and Death (死), and because of this, the number four is unlucky in Japan. According to the story, a woman who was hoping to rendezvous with her lover was killed in that room. Hideki and Chi along with Shinbo, Minoru and Yuzuki decide to investigate. At the end, Hideki and Chi discover that it is all a misunderstanding.

“Field of Giants” “Kyojin no Fīrudo” (巨人のフィールド)

Kaname connects herself directly to the Tuatha de Danaan computer system and re-programs it while Sousuke heads to the Tuatha de Danaan bridge. He rescues Tessa and the crew, but Gauron manages to escape. As Gauron is about to destroy the Tuatha de Danaan with his Venom AS, Sousuke activates his Arbalest. The U.S. Navy calls off the attack on the submarine.

ちぃ 出会う Chii Deau Chi Meets

Hideki gets a date with Yumi. While he’s out, Chi reads the sequel of her book, which awakens a part of her memory. As a result, she meets a mysterious girl who looks exactly like her, named Freya, who seems to know everything about Chi’s past that Chi does not.

“Jack in the Box” “Jakku in za Bokkusu” (ジャック·イン·ザ·ボックス)

To discredit Mithril, Gauron uses the Tuatha de Danaan to attack the USS Bunker Hill (CG-52), which is patrolling just nearby. Using resonance, Tessa communicates to Kaname a plan to regain control of the submarine, then creates a diversion that allows Kaname to escape. Gauron’s men pursue her, but Sousuke and Kurz arrive in time to help. Kalinin visits the Bunker Hill to convince the U.S. Navy not to respond in force after Gauron fires two Harpoons at the ship.

ちぃ 買う Chii Kau Chi Buys

Chi decides to use her money to buy the sequel to the book “A City with No People” and a porno magazine for Hideki, who learns from Shinbo that Persocoms need bathing. Since he doesn’t have money to buy bathing software for Chi, he has to teach Chi how to bathe. At the public baths, after some awkward, unsuccessful attempts to instruct Chi on how to bathe herself, Hideki eventually finds a way to avoid the task when he meets his landlady, who helps bathe Chi.

“Deep Trap” “Dīpu Torappu” (ディープ·トラップ)

Overcome with guilt over Melissa’s condition, Sousuke lashes out at Kaname telling her that she is a burden. Overhearing the conversation, Kurz hits Sousuke telling him that Sousuke made Kaname cry and it is men like him that turn into bad husbands. Realizing his mistake, he looks for Kaname to apologize; however, with help from SRT traitors, Gauron takes control of the Tuatha de Danaan AI with a special program, holding Kaname, Tessa, and the command crew hostage.

新保·すもも 語る Shinbo·Sumomo Kataru Shinbo and Sumomo Chat

Sumomo is running low on memory space, so she asks her owner, Shinbo, what he wants to erase. He starts at Sumomo’s “congratulations on moving in” dance for Hideki, and then recalls several main events and funny incidents that have occurred in the series thus far. This episode serves mainly as a recap of the storyline.

“Venom’s Flame” “Venomu no Hi” (ヴェノムの火)

Tessa shares with Kaname the nature of resonance between two Whispered. Meanwhile, the SRT prepares for a mission against terrorists led by Gauron, who survived the Helmajistan incident and is wreaking havoc at Palau’s Berildaob island. During the battle, Gauron is captured, but Melissa ends up gravely injured.

ちぃ とまどう Chii Tomadou Chi Bewildered

During the events in the previous episode, Chi’s defense mechanism activates and puts her in a trance-like state that results in her jumping from building to building and that seems to disable all of the other Persocoms in the area. Hideki goes looking for Chi. Seeing him takes her out of the state, and Hideki takes her home.

“Engaging Six and Seven” “Engēji Shikkusu Sebun” (エンゲージ·シックス·セブン)

Melissa recounts to Tessa and Kaname how she recruited Kurz and Sousuke into the SRT. She said they were unlikely candidates while she was searching for new members; however, the combat skills they exhibit during a mission changed her mind. Sousuke later takes Kaname on a tour of the submarine.

ちぃ 働く Chii Hataraku Chi Works

Chi wants to find a job to so she can help Hideki pay for their expenses. But Chi, being Chi, manages to get an accidental job in a peep show, and Hideki must look for her.

“Deep Sea Party” “Shinkai Pāti” (深海パーティ)

Kaname is nervous when Sousuke asks her to go to a secluded island with him, but is less enthused when the island turns out to be Mithril’s base. An emerging situation forces Sousuke to immediately report to the Tuatha de Danaan with Kaname still in tow. When she arrives aboard the Tuatha de Danaan, she is surprised at the royal treatment she receives and is invited to the submarine’s first anniversary party.

ちぃ 弱る Chii Yowaru Chi Weakens

Hideki begins to worry because Chi seems to be tired constantly. He talks to Shinbo about this, and learns that Persocoms need to be charged. Normally, prolonged exposure to sunlight is fine, but in this case, Chi needs to be plugged in. When Hideki returns, he finds that Chi is very close to losing all of her battery power, but he cannot recharge her because he hasn’t paid his electricity bill. In a desperate attempt, he tries to take Chi to Yorokonde but gets horribly lost along the way.

“The Wind Blows at Home, Part 3” “Kokyō ni Mau Kaze Kōhen” (故郷に舞う風·後編)

Sousuke fights and eventually kills Zaied while Gauron finishes off the remaining Mithril team. After Zaied falls, he then confronts Gauron and when their Lambda Drivers collide, Sousuke emerges as the sole victor.

ちぃ 見つける Chii Mitsukeru Chi Finds

Hideki is facing his first practice exam and goes to the book store to buy an English dictionary since he forgot his own at his parents’ place. At the store, Chi finds a picture book called “A City with No People,” which sparks Chi’s curiosity. Hideki buys it for her rather than his dictionary, and Shinbo lends his to Hideki. While Shinbo is teaching Hideki how to use the dictionary, Chi finishes the picture book and something unusual happens.

“The Wind Blows at Home, Part 2” “Kokyō ni Mau Kaze Chūhen” (故郷に舞う風·中編)

Sousuke and the remaining team members take refuge in a cave hideout. However, he is unaware that an old friend from his child soldier days, Zaied, is fighting alongside Gauron. Zaied’s insight into Sousuke’s tactical planning gives him and Gauron the strategic advantage.

ちぃ おつかい Chii Otsukai Chi Goes on Errands

Hideki comes to realizes that Chi doesn’t have “pantsu” (“Underpants” in the dub). Since he’s too embarrassed to get them himself, he lets Chi go to a lingerie store to buy them with the help of Sumomo’s navigation system. After several mishaps and mistakes, Hideki finally plucks up the courage to run into the store and buy them himself and run back out.
