Tomoya and Nagisa visit Youhei, and spend some time talking with Misae and Tomoyo who comes over after them. Later, when Tomoya and Nagisa are talking with Misae privately, Tomoya starts falling asleep. It is shown how when Misae was a first-year in high school, she met a strange boy named Shima Katsuki who says he can grant her one wish in return for her cheering him up years before when he was in the hospital. Misae has a boy she likes named Igarashi, but who unknown to her already has a girlfriend. Igarashi asks Shima to tell her this, but he cannot tell her directly and starts crying. Misae sees Igarashi with his girlfriend, and realizes the truth; she runs away, leaving Shima behind.

あの日と同じ笑顔で Ano Hi to Onaji Egao de With the Same Smile as That Day

Youhei has not been coming to class lately, and his friends and Mei are worrying about his situation. Mei, Tomoya, and Nagisa visit the Soccer Club, and try to convince them to let Youhei rejoin. After a grueling task of fetching soccer balls, the club still will not let Youhei back on the team. While the leader of the soccer team makes Mei cry, and picks on her, Youhei storms in and starts beating up the entire soccer club, with the help of Tomoya. After the soccer team members leave, Tomoya and Youhei have another fight about the protection of Mei. Youhei finally admits he was worried about Mei, and the fight is resolved after Mei and Nagisa interject. Tomoya later recounts to himself how he and Youhei first met.

すれちがう心 Surechigau Kokoro Disagreeing Hearts

Youhei and Sanae go out on a date, accompanied by Mei, Tomoya and Nagisa. Mei still feels that her brother is hopeless even with a dependable girlfriend, and thus still worries about him. Mei remembers that her brother used to be much nicer and worried about her in the past when Mei would get picked on. In an attempt to provoke a brotherly response out of Youhei, Mei lies about coming to the city to meet a guy she likes, and Tomoya later pretends in front of Youhei that he is that person. Despite being shocked in both instances, Youhei does not say anything to Mei. Since she cannot leave while things are the way they are, Mei decides to stay for the time being.

いつわりの愛をさがして Itsuwari no Ai o Sagashite Search for Fake Love

Mei has become worried about her older brother since he still does not have a plan after high school, and comes to stay at Nagisa’s for the time being. Based on a fleeting comment by Youhei, Tomoya gets the idea to ask a girl to pose as his girlfriend so Mei will stop worrying about him. Youhei goes around with Tomoya and Nagisa asking Ryou, Tomoyo, Kotomi, and Yukine, but no one can help him. Sanae overhears Youhei’s trouble and decides to be his fake girlfriend if it will help push him in the right direction in life. Youhei, however, still believes her to be Nagisa’s older sister. When Mei meets her brother’s “girlfriend”, Sanae is posing as a student from Tomoya’s high school.

夏の終わりのサヨナラ Natsu no Owari no Sayonara The Goodbye at the End of Summer

Summer vacation is now over and the second semester has started at Tomoya’s school. Nagisa’s father, Akio, asks Tomoya to form a baseball team for a local game against the neighboring shopping district team. Tomoya is able to recruit Kyou and Kotomi from the Drama Club, Youhei and his younger sister Mei, Tomoyo, Misae, and Yusuke. Tomoya’s team manages to get an early lead, but Akio’s leg gets injured by a flying bat, and Nagisa fills in for her father as the pitcher. The other team catches up near the end, and it comes down to the final inning when Tomoya scores an RBI, winning the game.

As Fuu finally confronts the Sunflower Samurai, Mugen and Jin face their ultimate tests. While Mugen must face the remaining brothers, Jin continues his battle with Kagetoki Kariya. And there’s the small matter of their own duel.

An American sea vessel arrives in town and a canny ninja-turned-team manager enlists our heroes to do battle with them on the field of honor…which in this case is a baseball diamond. Behold Mugen’s pitching skills and tremble!

“Cosmic Collisions” “Anger Shot Toward Heaven / Dohatsu Shōten” (怒髪衝天)

On the way to Nagasaki the trio fall through a mine shaft. They’re introduced to its charismatic owner and start working for a share of treasure. As the days drag on the things take a turn for the bizarre.

“Elegy of Entrapment (Verse 2)” “Generous Elegy 2 / Hikakōgai sono ni” (悲歌慷慨 其之弐)

Jin learns the Way of Water, a woman’s sorrow comes to an end, and Mugen both gives and receives an assassin’s last gift.

Fuu, Mugen and Jin meet up with a blind girl who is a traveling musician. Because of her blindness, she is able to sense the emotions of the group. Is this girl more than just a musician?

A cynical charlatan fleeces the hidden Christian flock, Fuu gets closer to the Sunflower Samurai, and a truth is finally revealed.

“War of the Words” “Pen in One Hand, Sword in the Other / Bunburyōdō” (文武両道)

Fuu gets a facelift when kids trade in the sword for the graffiti brush; Jin keeps a promise to a long-lost friend and confronts the shock of the new, while Mugen learns to read and conquers a castle.

Jin ends a life he hoped to spare. Continuation of the last episode.

The shogun’s prettiest ninja ends up giving Mugen an evening that he will never forget. Meanwhile, Fuu gets large from eating too much.

When Mugen finds out what the pirate was planning to do, he gets his revenge.

Mugen’s past memories lure him back into his violent past; a pirate makes secret plans. And the lust for gold brings betrayal.

Mugen steals Fuu’s diary that she has been keeping since they first started on their journey to find the sunflower samurai. The episode is a humorous recap on what has happened so far in ‘Samurai Champloo’ as seen through Fuu’s viewpoint, which is in turn criticised by Jin and Mugen. In the end, they find a note written by Fuu herself saying that she knew they would try and snoop into her diary, which enrages Mugen.
